The Haygood clinic is conveniently located off of Independence Road, near the outpatient campus, Sentara Independence, and within 5 minutes walking distance of the HRT Independence & Pembroke Bus Stop.

The Haygood clinic provides physical therapy as well as speech, occupational for children and adults through the Pediatric and Neurological Division. The McKenzie Certified therapist on staff works one-on-one with patients to assess back, neck and extremity problems and develop an individualized treatment plan for each patient. This clinic also provides speech, occupational, and physical therapy for children and adults through the Pediatric and Neurological Division.

Maricel Briones is a Doctor of Physical Therapy and Clinic Director at the Haygood location of Southeastern Physical Therapy. She received her B.S. in Exercise Science and Doctorate of Physical Therapy at Old Dominion University. She became a Certified Myofascial Trigger Point Therapist through Myopain Seminars in April 2014. She specializes in manual therapy techniques, such as dry needling for trigger points, aimed to optimize muscle function and decrease pain. Maricel evaluates and treats a variety of orthopedic conditions from post-op rehab to sports injuries for the adult and pediatric population. Maricel uses the combination of neuromuscular re-education, posture management, manual therapy and dry needling techniques to improve function and reduce soft tissue restrictions. She is also a strong advocate for education, not only with patients, but with interns and volunteers. She is an active Clinical Instructor for different PT and PTA programs. Maricel is also an active member of the Tidewater Physical Therapy Association (TPTA) to assist with upcoming continuing education courses and social events. She is currently the District Publisher for the TPTA. Maricel enjoys spending time with her immediate and extended family at local events or family gatherings. She strives to ensure every patient receives a pleasant experience at the Haygood location of Southeastern Physical Therapy.

Cindy received her Bachelors of Science in Media Studies from Radford University and her PTA degree from Tidewater Community College and received her Clinical Instructor Credentials with APTA. Cindy has gained her experience in working over 10 years in Outpatient Physical Therapy settings. She enjoys a wide variety of patient populations. From sports related injuries and weekend warriors, to post surgical rehab, she is passionate about helping people get back to what they enjoy most. She also performs pre work screens and work conditioning programs to help those injured to return to work. Through aquatic therapy she has been able to promote a healthy rehabilitation for patients after major back and lower extremity surgeries and patients suffering from chronic pain.

Meghan is a certified Speech-Language Pathologist with over 10 years of experience in both pediatrics and adults. She received her B.S. in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Radford University in 2005 and her M.S. in Speech Language Pathology from Radford University in 2007. Meghan has a variety of experience providing speech services to public schools, day cares, preschools, private schools, private clinics, as well as home health services. Meghan has expertise in treating and providing skilled intervention to the pediatric, school aged population, and adults. She has proficiency in the areas of articulation, apraxia, auditory processing disorders, language acquisition, receptive and expressive language, pragmatic language, fluency, Autism, and individuals requiring augmentative/alternative communication systems. She also has experience in working in the area of cognition, Aphasia, stroke, and traumatic brain injury. She believes each treatment plan is created based on the personal needs of the individual and that team/family collaboration plays an important role in success and carryover of learned skills.

Lauren is an occupational therapist specializing in pediatrics. She received her bachelors of science degree from Florida State University in the areas of psychology and child development. While receiving her undergraduate education Lauren worked as therapeutic assistant at a residential Eating Disorder Treatment Center and in local preschools collecting data for reading research. She received her Master’s in Occupational Therapy degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. Lauren has worked in outpatient pediatrics, as well as inpatient rehab with a focus on cognitive rehab following traumatic brain injury. Lauren has always had a passion for working with children and has experience with a range of diagnosis including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Developmental Coordination Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, ADD/ADHD and feeding difficulties. Lauren believes in making therapy fun and motivating while working on the skills needed to succeed in everyday life!

Amanda Daigle
Amanda is a certified Speech-Language Pathologist at Southeastern Physical Therapy. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in the area of Communication Sciences and Disorders in 2006 from James Madison University. In 2008, Amanda graduated with a Master’s of Science Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Old Dominion University.
Amanda has extensive experience in outpatient pediatrics; treating children in the areas of articulation, language, fluency, and feeding/swallowing. She specializes in areas of feeding/swallowing and is a trained provider of the Wilson Language/Reading Program. Amanda equally enjoys working with the adult population addressing disorders with swallowing/feeding and oral motor skills and communication disorders following stroke, traumatic brain injury and dementia.
Amanda is committed to working with patients and their families to make therapy not only a meaningful and successful experience, but also an enjoyable one. She is passionate about establishing a partnership with patients and their families to develop an individualized treatment plan to facilitate the most significant and functional communication for each patient.

Kasie Healey
Kasie is a Speech-Language Pathologist. She received her B.S. in Speech Language Pathology in 2014 and her M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology in 2016 from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Kasie enjoys working with both pediatric and adult populations. She has experience in evaluating and providing skilled intervention to the pediatric populations in the areas of language, articulation, voice, fluency, swallowing, and feeding. Kasie enjoys working with pediatric populations to facilitate early language skills as well as feeding therapy to children of all ages. Kasie has experience in evaluating and providing skilled intervention to the adult populations in outpatient setting with speech, language, voice, swallowing, and cognitive impairments as a result from traumatic brain injury, stroke, and dementia. Kasie has a passion for developing individualized treatment plans with the incorporation of parents and families to facilitate positive outcomes and success for each patient.
